The family of Pedro Garcia Diaz farms two hectares of land in the District of San Jose Alto, near the city of Jaen. The coffee is picked selectively and fermented for 36 hours, washed and then dried on tarpaulin mats on the ground for two weeks. Coffees of this area have huge potential with distinct characteristics, full of complexity and bursting with floral notes. But the area is very isolated, due to poor roads and distance from Jaen. Therefore it has very little investment and few links with coops and associations, as such the middlemen rule the roost. As a result, coffee quality and farmers potential suffer. But this means that the impact of the work that Falcon Coffee is doing there has a big impact to improve the lives of farmers in this region.
